Y-Strainers are the most commonly used strainer type in a pipeline system in Australia. They are used to protect high value equipment such as pumps and compressors from undesired solid particles. Y-strainers may be used in applications where heavy dirt loading in not expected. This type of strainer is the most cost effective solution for pipelines up to 12” in diameter. At Infinity Industrial Supplies, we keep ready stock of Y-strainers starting from ¼” up to 12” in various pressure class such as ANSI Class 150, Class 300 & Class 600. The most commonly stocked shell material for these strainers are Cast Carbon Steel (ASTM A216-WCB) and Cast Stainless Steel (ASTM A351-CF8M). Apart from the stock Y-strainers, we also fabricate Y-strainers for high pressure application up to 15,000 psi and special shell material such as Duplex Stainless Steel & Titanium.
All Y-strainers are fitted with precision-made stainless steel screen. These screens may be a combination of perforation and fine mesh or simply the perforation for coarse filtration (3mm and above). All screens are manufactured in-house and hence any degree of filtration can be achieved along with various grades of stainless steel such as SS304, SS316, SS316L, Duplex Stainless, Super Duplex Stainless, Titanium and Hastelloy C276
Y-strainers at Infinity Industrial Supplies come with various end connection to suit any end connection requirement. Sizes up to 2” diameter can have Socket-Weld (SW), Threaded (NPT), Flanged (RF or FF) or Butt-weld end connection. Sizes above 2” diameter can be designed with Flanged (RF or FF), Butt-weld or Hub end connection. One of the significant features of a Y-strainer is its versatility to be installed in a horizontal or vertical position. Blind flange needs to be opened to remove the screen for cleaning and maintenance. For the ease of opening this blind flange, lifting lugs and special hinge arrangement can be provided.
